The meat and poultry industry is the largest component of both the nation‘s agricultural sector and food marketing industry. Its beginnings go back over a thousand years to the first slaughterhouse recorded to operate in Chicago in 1827. Continuing with this rich history, the meatpacking district in New York City, officially known as the Gansevoort Market evoked a significant chapter in New York City's commercial history, circa 1840 to 1950. This period highlighted the major forces that brought the area to commercial prominence. In 1900, the Gansevoort Market housed approximately 250 slaughterhouses and packing plants, but in 2003, a mere 35 of these facilities existed. Diamond Ranch Foods was one of these 35, but eventually, it relocated out of the district like a majority of its industry neighbors due to a revitalization initiative launched by New York City.
PresentTraditionally, the meat industry was comprised of "mom and pop", family-owned businesses, which passed from generation-to-generation. The management of Diamond Ranch Foods had similar humble beginnings with proud family memories of yester-year. With the tremendous restructuring occurring in the industry, Diamond Ranch Foods had to strategically poise itself as a market leader to capture the "mom and pop" market niche in an attempt to acquire these businesses that have little option for survival and no exit strategy.
FutureDiamond Ranch Foods has dedicated a corporate division that is strictly focused on analyzing and integrating new acquisitions to roll-up and consolidate under the Diamond Ranch Foods, publicly-held umbrella. Attrition and societal changes are making it nearly impossible for the "mom and pops" to exist, therefore providing a plethora of acquisition opportunities that would accelerate revenues and earnings growth of the parent company, Diamond Ranch Foods. Diamond Ranch‘s roll-up strategy and targeted acquisitions are designed to create greater efficiencies through the generation of critical mass purchasing power and the benefits of consolidation.
